How do we look after the site?
Many organisations and authorities look after different areas and aspects of the Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau SAC. To help manage the site properly, many of the organisations and authorities with specific legal responsibilities for this area meet and work together as a group. This group has been called the Relevant Authorities Group. To coordinate the work of this and other groups with an interest in the SAC, Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau has it’s own SAC Officer.

What about the people who live near the SAC, or want to use the area for work or fun? They have their own group too. People such as fishermen, farmers, boat users, tourism operators, local authorities and anyone else who is interested in the SAC can meet, talk about the SAC and keep up to date with its management. This group is the Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau SAC Liaison Group.

A management plan for the SAC lists all the things that need to be done and looked after in the site to make sure nothing is missed.

One of the most important things we do to look after the site is tell people about it! We try and tell as many people as possible all about the fascinating things under the waters of Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau SAC and why it’s special. And we show people as well! Dolphin watching, rock pooling, guided walks – they’re all ways of showing people how special their area is. This way, we hope people will want to help look after it.
