Gwynedd Council’s Biodiversity Team have run a series of events this summer to celebrate the wonderful wildlife we have both on land and around our coastline. Much of Gwynedd’s fantastic coastline is designated as a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) to help protect some amazing habitats and species. This SAC is called Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau.
This summer many children took part in an art competition to demonstrate the variety of wildlife that can be found in Wales. In the age 3-7 category Mali Hattle (aged 4) came first and Anni Gwyn Roberts (aged 7) came second. In the age 8-14 category Macie Brooks (aged 8) came first and Christopher Robson (aged 12) came second. Alison Hargrave, the Pen Llŷn a’r Sarnau SAC Officer, said ‘the standard and number of entries were extremely high it was very difficult to choose a winner!’
