Marine Invasive Non-Native Species (INNS) are a threat to global biodiversity and can have significant socio-economic effects on activities such as fishing, recreation, shipping and aquaculture.
One species to look out for is the American lobster. It resembles our native European lobster, but it is larger, up to 64cm in length, and around 2kg in weight.
Evidence shows that American lobsters can introduce diseases which can cause harm to our native species. The American Lobster may also threaten our own European lobster by competing for food and shelter.
For more information, or if you believe you have seen this species please let us know – we would love to hear from you.
